Ketelfactory

"These modern, abstract tapestries display an intense connection with nature and a love of the earth. Claudy's alchemistic searching is down to earth, yet it does open a world that lies beyond the perceptible one. She is creating culture from nature and masters the processes and skills.  With these works of art Studio Claudy Jongsta hopes to rouse the inner knowledge."

Sacred Dahlia exists of bands in carmine red and pruple and gives this work of art a regal dignity and evokes a sense of sanctity.

The smaller works of art are thoughts, they seem like brushstrokes in wool and share a raw honesty.

'Wedding' was created as a solo exhibition especially for the Ketelfactory, Schiedam, NL.

De Ketelfactory is a project space with respect for the author, made possible by the patronage of Nolet Distillery and operates under the direction of Winnie Teschmacher.

Lincoln Center New York

At Lincoln Center (NY) Claudy Jongstra has designed two monumental art-installations i.c.w. Tod Williams and Billie Tsien Architects. Each installation (North- and South wall) is app. 97 foot. The wall coverings are made of felted wool and silk in a palette of natural colors, gold and grey. The fabric takes on a painterly quality when viewed from below or from a distance. Captivating and decorative, dynamic and still, rich details stand out in this work.

Claudy’s dedication in these pieces is the integration of sensitive and environmentally sustainable materials to bring visual softening to the double-heighted public space and enhance the acoustical balance.
